Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has initiated a crusade to save a dying art form. Aamir met some Chanderi weavers on his tour to promote 3 Idiots and was alarmed to know from them that the ancient Indian art is dying a slow death due to lack of practitioners.
Aamir has decided to set up retail stores that stock garments made by the Chanderi weavers all across the country to promote the art. Aamir has also met acclaimed fashion designer Sabyasachi to find out what else can be done to save the art.
Aamir Khan took Bollywood by storm with his debut film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, humming the chartbuster song Papa kehte hain. His twinkling eyes, mischievous smile, flawless performances and careful selection of films soon secured a niche for Aamir Khan and made him one of India's leading actors.

Aamir began his equally successful career as a producer with Lagaan and Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (2008). He also directed and produced the hit movie Taare Zameen Par (2007). His first production, Lagaan, was nominated for the Oscar Award in the Best Foreign Language Film category.
Aamir is married to Kiran Rao, and has two children, Junaid and Aira, from his earlier marriage to Reena.
