American pop artist Britney Spears was born on December 2, 1981 in Mississippi. She shot to fame with the television series The New Mickey Mouse Club in 1993. The year 1999 saw her release her debut album Baby One More Time. The album became a huge success and made Britney a teen-pop icon overnight. Her next three albums too were hits.

In 2002, Britney made her Hollywood debut with Crossroads. The film was poorly received and Britney received a Razzie Award for the Worst Actress.

Britney is also known for many controversies especially her breakup with fellow pop icon Justin Timberlake. Today, Britney is ranked eighth in the best recording artists in the US.
