Rating: 2 ½ stars out of five

Fast & Furious 4 is strictly for Vin Diesel and the Fast & Furious series fans. It's all about super fast cars, revenge and adrenalin pumping action. Not to mention superb shots of super-fast cars either burning up the road or toppling over in spectacular slow mo. Cinematography by Amir Mokri is above board. Fred Raskin and Christian Wagner do a wonderful job on editing, as do the special effects team of Jon Bethke, Ron DeGuzman and Ian McArther. The foot-tapping music by Brian Tyler blends in well with the background.

Don't go in expecting an earth shattering plot or a water-tight script. There are plenty of illogical moments like whizzing cars missing each other by a hair's breath (albeit impressively executed) and superfast cars zipping through narrow underground tunnels (quite convincing though). Painstakingly shot; Fast & Furious 4 lives up to the earlier titles in the series. Director Justin Lin does a good job.

As expected from such a hardcore car flick, Diesel and Paul Walker have witty one liners which make you smile. Both leads perform well, while Jordana Brewster is good. Michelle Rodriguez (of Lost television series fame) doesn't have much of a role as she is killed right in the beginning.

Here's one flick you can watch solely for the spectacular eye-catching moments and special effects.

Audience Review

The movie saw an encouraging turnout on the first day of its release in suburban Mumbai theatre.

The recurrent word to describe the film was ‘awesome' and Vin Diesel walked away with most of the praises for his performance as Dominic Toretto.

Movie Story

Justin Lin, who has directed two of the earlier movies in the series, Tokyo Drift and Better Luck Tomorrow, directs Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriquez and Jordana Brewster in a high-octane action-thriller.

Ex-con Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), holed up in the Dominican Republic, tries to piece together a new life with Letty (Michelle Rodriquez), but knows the law is on his tail. A tragic death of a loved one brings him back to LA, where his feud with agent Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker) is reignited. Only this time they are forced to confront a common foe, a sociopathic drug kingpin flooding the U S with drugs. To bring the kingpin down, Toretto and O'Connor have to infiltrate the drug mafia.
