Movie Story

Prem (Salman Khan) has just completed his MBA and is learning the ropes of business under his elder brother Rajesh (Mohnish Bahl) and uncle Kailashnath (Alok Nath), a big industrialist.

Nisha (Madhuri Dixit), who lives in another town, has just finished studying computers and lives with her parents Prof Choudhry (Anupam Kher) and Kamladevi (Rima), and elder sister Pooja (Renuka Shahane).

Rajesh and Pooja get engaged, and, during the course of the delightful pre- and post-festivities of an Indian wedding, Prem falls head over heels in love with Nisha. However, they have to go their separate ways after the wedding.

When Pooja conceives, Nisha stays with her till the birth of the child, taking care of household chores and becoming very much a part of the family.

Prem and Nisha come closer and swear undying love for each other, but fate strikes a cruel blow - in the form of Pooja's sudden demise.

Rajesh's health deteriorates soon after, and Prof Choudhary suggests Nisha should marry Rajesh and take care of the child.

Will Prem and Nisha have to sacrifice their love? Will Nisha marry Rajesh?
