As Prem and Suman come closer, their relation gets stronger. Seema gets increasingly jealous on seeing their relationship. She invites Prem to a party organized by her. Prem takes Suman along. At the party, Seema's cousin Jeevan misbehaves with Suman. Prem beats him, but what Jeevan says rattles both Suman and Prem. Jeevan tells them that a girl and a boy can never just be friends.

When they reach home, Sumna returns Prem's cap, a token of his friendship, and starts avoiding him. All attempts by Prem to talk to her, fails.

Movie Story

Karan (Alok Nath) lives in a small town with his only daughter Suman (Bhagyashree). His daughter's wedding soon plagues his mind and he decides to shift base to the Gulf to earn some money for the wedding.

He decides to leave Suman with his childhood friend Kishen Kumar Choudhury (Rajiv Verma), a successful and rich businessman. Kishen's wife Kaushalya (Reema Lagoo) accepts Suman openly and makes her feel at home.

Suman soon develops a strong friendship with their son Prem (Salman Khan) which soon blossoms into love. Prem is, however, supposed to marry Seema, the daughter of Kishen's business partner. Prem falls head over heels in love with Suman but his father does not approve of the match. He kicks Suman out of his house, accusing her of taking advantage of his hospitality. Prem and Kaushalya's pleas fall on deaf ears. Karan is furious when he sees how his daughter has been treated and breaks all ties with them.

Prem, though, does not give up and follows Suman and Karan back to their hometown. Karan now does not approve of Prem as his son-in-law and warns him to stay away from Suman. It is now up to Prem to prove his love for Suman and win over Karan.
