It was a rare sight to watch as yesteryears' superstar Rajesh Khanna alias Kaka turned up at the music release of Wafaa. Dressed in a traditional Nehruvian style Kurta Pyjama, the veteran actor marked the music launch by unveiling a large CD of the film. Other Bollywood glitterati present on the occasion included item girl Rakhi Sawant and singer Kumar Sanu.
Directed by Rakesh Sawant, Wafaa stars Sudesh Berry, Pakistani actress Sanaa Khan and Tinnu Anand. The story revolves around a wealthy business tycoon (played by Rajesh Khanna) who is in immense love with an airhostess.
When asked about the film's prospects, Rakhi Sawant was quick to add, “I don't know about the big cities, but I hope the film works in rural areas. We did not have any godfather and I hope my brother Rakesh achieves success in his directorial venture”.
Asked to comment on the film, Rajesh Khanna said, “The movie has the entire commercial element which a multiplex film should have”.

Amritlal Chopra (Rajesh Khanna) is an ageing but prosperous businessman based in Thailand. He is married to a much younger Beena (Saara Khan), who desperately desires a child, but an asthmatic Amritlal is unable to satisfy her. Feeling sexually dissatisfied, Beena turns to her driver Raj to satisfy her sexual desires.
Fed up of her husband, one day Beena pushes him over the hill, with Raj being the only witness. Beena informs the police about her husband's death being an accident. Amritlal's body is later recovered in the valley, but is beyond recognition.
Raj and Beena inherit Amritlal's vast property and business empire. Suddenly one day, Amritlal re-appears to Beena's utter shock. In her bid to outwit the police about the new development, Beena informs the police that an impostor, claiming to be her late husband, was harassing her.
Beena's plans go awry, when Raj confesses the involvement of Beena in Amritlal's murder. Having sniffed a conspiracy, police interrogate Beena until she confesses to the murder of her husband. This brings us to the question; if Amritlal is dead, then who is the new Amritlal? Is he really an impostor? Or a ghost of Amritlal? Or is Amritlal really dead?
