Story:-

Director Wong Kar-Wai follows his widely acclaimed 'In The Mood For Love' (2000), with another visually-enriched masterpiece called '2046'. The film revolves around an out-of-work novelist Chow Wo Man (Tony Leung) who, sitting in a dingy hotel room, pens his ideas about a place known as 2046, a destination where people travel often to regain their lost memories and from where no one wants to return; except Tak (Kimura Takuya), who alone takes the train back from 2064 and, on the way, falls in love with a robot (Wong Faye).
The idea, probably comes up in Chow's mind as he meets Lu Lu (Lau Kar-ling), a woman from his past, who does not remembers him now. Lu Lu lives in room number 2046 of a hotel, the number which also connects Chow to Su Li-Zhen (Maggie Cheung), his one time lady love.
In a complicated time weave, the film flashes back to the past where, in the winter of 1966, the author asks the love of his life, Su Lizhen (Gong Li) to sail with him from Hongkong to Singapore. Sadly, she refuses. Coming back to present, Chow shifts to room number 2047 of the hotel, indulging in his here today, gone tomorrow affairs with beautiful yet complicated women.
Moving through time, as each year passes by; Chow hooks up with a peculiar hotel heiress Wang Jingwen (Faye Wong) in 1968 and a mesmerizing call girl Bai Ling (Zhang Ziyi) in 1969. The novelist isn't quite lucky in love as these relationships fail as well.
Chow, however, moves between the real world and his own fictional creation of 2046, trying to find the meaning of love, relationships and memories.
