With her girl next door looks, soft demeanor and easy going performance in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Anushka Sharma has surely won the hearts of film audience.
Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi failed to win over critics, but Anushka is not ready to take it as a setback. "After all it's the critics' opinion and remains at that, but the feedback I have been receiving has been more positive than negative, so that makes me feel good," says Anushka confidently.
Anushka, who got a dream break starring opposite none other than Shah Rukh Khan, is full of gratitude for Yash Raj Films and the crew for her lucky break. "With the kind of people I was working with, I had to make sure that I don't goof up as the production house is a really renowned one. Aditya Chopra, the director and SRK are really good at their jobs so I had to try and match up to them," says Anushka.
The newcomer gets ecstatic, talking about her working relationship with the superstar Shah Rukh. "He really made me feel comfortable on the sets of the film. He made me feel as if I belong to this place," gushes Anushka.
Surinder Sahni (Shah Rukh Khan) works for Punjab Power Corporation. A simple and shy person, Surinder falls in love with bubbly and bold Taani (Anushka Sharma), the moment he sees her.
Circumstances force Taani to marry Surinder after her fiancé's death. However, Taani makes it clear to Surinder that she will never be able to love him.
Surinder sees Taani smile first time after ages when she decides to join a dance school and participate in a dance competition. While Surinder looks for ways to win Taani's heart, his friend Bobby (Vinay Pathak) urges him to join dance classes too, to be near Taani. Bobby gives such a makeover to Surinder that no one, including Taani, can not recognize him.
Luck makes Surinder Taani's dance partner. Surinder introduces himself to Taani as Raj. As Raj, Surinder is a completely different person, uninhibited, outspoken and garishly loud.
One day, Raj expresses his love to Taani. After refusing initially, Taani thinks Raj is the ideal person for her. Surinder is sad; Taani loves Raj and not Surinder, his real self. The tale of man's struggle to win his love ends on a happy note.
