Lyrics
Aapne yaad dilaya toh mujhe yaad aaya
Aapne yaad dilaya toh mujhe yaad aaya
Ke mere dil pe pada tha koi gham ka saaya
Aapne yaad dilaya
Main bhi kya cheez hoon khaaya tha kabhi teer koi
Dard ab jaake utha chot lage der hui
Tumko humdard jo paaya toh mujhe yaad aaya
Ke mere dil pe pada tha koi gham ka saaya
Aapne yaad dilaya
Main zameen par hoon na samjha, na parakhna chaha
Aasman par yeh kadam jhoom ke rakhna chaha
Aaj jo sar ko jhukaya to mujhe yaad aaya
Ke mere dil pe pada tha koi gham ka saaya
Aapne yaad dilaya
Maine bhi soch liya saathe nibhane ke liye
Door tak aaungi main tumko manane ke liye
Dil ne eksaas dilaya to mujhe yaad aaya
Aapne yaad dilaya toh mujhe yaad aaya
Aapne yaad dilaya toh mujhe yaad aaya

Artist Biography
Mohammed Rafi
Mohammed Rafi had acquired his music lessons from Ustad Ghulam Ali Khan. He debuted with a Punjabi film Gul Baloch, in which he sang a duet - Soniye Ni Heeriye Ni - with Zeenat Begum. Homi Wadia of Wadia Movietone, a prominent film company, spotted the talent in Mohammed Rafi and insisted that he sang for his forthcoming film Sharbati Ankhen under music director Feroz Nizami.
Rafi was gifted with a voice that suited all the genres of music. From soulful ghazals and plaintive bhajans to wild and whacky songs, Mohammed Rafi had a knack for all with his versatile singing skills.
Mohammed Rafi was an altruist and was known for charging nominal fee from music directors who could not afford his regular charges.
Rafi won the coveted Filmfare Award in the Best Playback Singer category, as many as six times. The list comprises of Chaudhvin ka chand ho (Chaudhvin Ka Chand - 1960), Teri pyaari pyaari surat ko (Sasural – 1961), Chahunga main tujhe (Dosti – 1964), Baharon phool barsao (Suraj – 1966), Dil ke jharoke mein (Brahmachari – 1968) and Kya hua tera vaada (Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin -1977). He was also honored with the prestigious Padmashri award by the Government of India.
A firm teetotaler and a non-smoker, Rafi succumbed to a serious heart-attack on July 31, 1980.
Lata Mangeshkar
Lata Mangeshkar, Bollywood's most popular playback singer, has been singing for over 50 years. She has lent her voice to actresses ranging from Nargis to Preity Zinta.
Lata began her singing lessons at the tender age of five, under renowned singers Ustad Aman Ali Khan Sahib and Ustad Amanat Khan. She made her debut as a playback singer in the Marathi film Kiti Hasaal (1942), but the song was edited out later.
It was with composer Ghulam Haider that her voice first resonated on the silver screen in the film Majboor (1948). In 1949, four of her films - Mahal, Dulari, Barsaat and Andaz - were released and Lata became a name to reckon with.
Though Lata sang for most of the popular music directors, it was with composers C Ramchandra and Madan Mohan that her voice scaled new heights. The 1960s and 1970s saw Lata at the height of her popularity, even as controversy plagued her with accusations of monopolizing the playback-singing industry. In 1980s, however, she cut down her playback work to concentrate on her shows abroad.
Lata continued to render her voice to young actresses like Kajol in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Madhuri Dixit in Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), and Preity Zinta in Veer-Zaara (2004). She, still, has been singing for occasional films like Rang De Basanti (2006), Souten (2006), Jai Santoshi Maa (2006), Chain Kulli Ki Main Kulli (2007) and Salaam-E-Ishq (2007).
