Jhum Jham Jhum

Reena is completely against the idea of going to the village for a vacation; her parents, somehow, manage to convince her. The village is a different world altogether. Reena sees a bullock cart, which fuels her curiosity. In the city, she has only seen motor vehicles. She comes across vast open spaces, not a common sight in cities. There are big paddy fields, a feast for the eyes. As her parents settle down in her aunt's house, Reena meets the village children and is amused by their innocence and friendly nature. She plays with them all day and enjoys long bicycle rides with them. One day some children talk about a tree which narrates interesting stories about the village. A curious Reena urges them to take her to the tree. The children reach there and ask the tree for a story. A voice comes from the tree, which narrates how a man had once hurt it with an axe and went back without sensing his cries. The tree also narrates a story of a wedding ceremony in the village, which was exceptionally memorable because the children had a good time savoring the sweets distributed in the ceremony. Soon it's time to go back home. Reena is not happy with the idea of going back to the city. She loves the tree, which narrates interesting stories. Reena argues with her father that trees do speak and insist her parents visit the tree. As they reach the tree, Reena is disheartened to see some people felling it to accommodate a power house. The village needs electricity. Reena decides to return as as the talking tree doesn't exist anymore.
