May 23, 2009: Former Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh and former Mines Minister Sis Ram Ola are likely to be made governors of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh respectively.

Both veteran Congress leaders were reportedly left out of the cabinet because of their ages and fitness, but they are to be accommodated elsewhere in return for their loyalty towards the party.

Arjun Singh had earlier served as a Governor of Punjab during Rajiv Gandhi's tenure as PM.

Meanwhile, the present MP Governor's tenure is getting over on July 22, after which Ola could be made the Governor.
