Bihar Government Agrees for CBI Probe into Yogendra Pandey Murder Case

Jun 25, 2009: Bihar government on Thursday announced to conduct CBI probe into the death of Samastipur PWD engineer Yogendra Pandey.

The Engineers’ Association, which had threatened to go on indefinite strike from June 25 protesting handling of the case by Bihar Police, postponed its agitation till July 1 following government’s announcement.

The police had declared Pandey committed suicide.  

Meanwhile, the family of the victim accused SP Kshatraneel Singh and contractor Kishore Kumar’s role behind the death of the engineer.

Pandey, an executive engineer of state road division, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Sitamarhi collectorate premises on June 18.



 

Background

On December 24 last year, an Uttar Pradesh PWD engineer Manoj Gupta was beaten to death allegedly by BSP MLA Shekhar Tiwari's supporters after the officer refused to give fund for party chief Mayawati’s birthday celebration.
