Bridge Collapse in Bihar’s Nawada Kills Six

Aug 25, 2009: Atleast six people were killed and over a dozen injured when an 80-year old bridge over Phalgu river Bihar's Nawada district collapsed on Tuesday.

 

Heavy vehicles were banned on the bridge, which needed immediate repairs. The mishap occurred when a truck tried to cross the bridge.



 

Background

Around 20 people were killed and several others injured when a bus plunged into Chambal river near Devri in Madhya Pradesh on June 1.

On May 21, five employees of software major Infosys had died, while 23 others wounded when a bus carrying them met accident in Karnataka's Belgaum.
