Jul 1, 2009: An Andhra Pradesh Congress MP has been charged of slapping a state bank manager in Mahbubnagar.

Manda Jagannatham, MP from Nagarkurnool, was seen slapping manager of a local branch of Grameen Vikas Bank Ravinder Reddy on TV channels, after a heated argument.

Jagannatham accused Reddy of deliberately delaying the loans for the SC and ST farmers.

The manager, on the other hand, said the work given to him by the parliamentarian could not have been completed in one day and he was just following the rules.

Refuting the allegations, Jagannatham said Reddy was drunk at the time of the argument and has registered a complaint against Reddy under SC-ST act.

Following the incident, employees of banks in Mahbubnagar have gone on strike.
