Apr 28, 2009: India would host 29 of the total 49 matches of 2011 cricket world cup after the tournament's central organizing committee on Tuesday reallocated the games in the wake of ICC's decision to drop Pakistan as a co-host of the tournament over security issues.
The 29 matches include a final and semi-final match.
Besides, Mumbai would house secretariat of the world cup event, which was earlier at Lahore.
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh would host 12 and 8 matches respectively.
The second semi final match will be played at Sri Lanka, while Bangladesh would host two quarter-finals.
The opening ceremony of the event would be held at Bangladesh on February 18, 2011 and the first match will be played the following day.
According to earlier schedule, 14 matches were to be played in Pakistan.
Cricket World Cup is the game's most important tournament in ODIs.
Organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC), the contest is held every four years.
Maiden WC championship was organized in 1975 in England with Clive Lloyd-led West Indies being the first team to lift the prestigious cup.
Out of the nine WC tourneys played so far, Australia and West Indies have won four and two competitions respectively.
India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka clinched the trophy for one time.
