May 12 (1300 hrs) In a move that is likely to sour the already uncomfortable relation between the north Indians and Raj Thackeray led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav has sought permission to perform `Chhath Puja’ -- the main festival of Biharis -- at Dadar Chowpatty in Mumbai.
Activists of Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD), party which the Railway Minister heads, on Monday submitted an application seeking permission to perform the puja.
MNS chief Raj Thackeray had dared Lalu Yadav to celebrate Chhath Puja in Mumbai, to which the latter had reacted saying he would perform puja in front of Raj’s residence.
It may be noted that Raj resides near Dadar-Chowpatty, where Lalu Yadav had sought permission to perform puja.
