Apr 14, 2009: A Congress MLA was shot dead in Madhya Pradesh's Bhind on Monday.

The incident occurred in a village in Bhind when the MLA Makhan Lal Jatav's vehicle was intercepted by unidentified men while the leader was on his way home from a poll rally in Gohat on Monday night.

Jatav was immediately rushed to a Gwalior hospital, but was declared dead before arrival.

The reason behind the Congress leader's killing is yet to be known, said the police. However, some locals doubted Jatav, whose activists were embroiled in a riot with supporters of opposition party on April 9, was murdered out of political enmity.
