Manawan Police Academy Siege Ends

Mar 30, 2009: The eight hour hostage drama at the Manawan police training facility came to an end after the security forces claimed to have arrested or gunned down all the attackers.

 

Two terrorists were captured alive, two were gunned down, while two others blew themselves up on fearing arrest.

 

Around 0630 hrs, terrorists attacked the police training facility, when the trainees were busy with their morning parade.

 

Around 26 people were killed, while over 150 injured in the attack.



 

Background

Several terror attacks have taken place in important cities of Pakistan before. The latest was attack on Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore.

Lankan team was attacked while they were on their way to play test match in Gadaffi stadium.
