May 16 (1100 hrs) Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers led by chief Raj Thackeray which launched a tirade against North Indians three months back began its antics once again by displaying sarcastic posters of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad at various parts of Mumbai.
The posters aiming at Lalu featuring an article from the Marathi daily ‘Navakal’, referred him as ‘Chaalu Prasad Yadav’ meaning witty, and also equated North Indians with crows following a statement issued by Lalu Prasad that he would conduct a ‘Chhat Puja’ at a beach in Mumbai close to Raj’s residence and dared the MNS chief and his followers to stop him.
Further, the article also made fun of ‘Chhat Puja’ of North Indians, terming it as ‘Hatt Puja’, hinting at the stubborn resolve of RJD chief to ‘show his strength’ to the MNS chief.
The MNS-North Indian spat began three months back when MNS workers attacked North Indians followed by the bashing of North Indian taxi drivers in Mumbai and the subsequent arrest and release of Raj Thackeray followed by another fiery speech at Shivaji Park in Central Mumbai in which the MNS chief targeted Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan, Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh and RJD chief Laloo Prasad Yadav daring him and his followers to perform a ‘Chhat Puja’ at Mumbai.
This is not the first instance when MNS workers pasted posters to display their ‘thoughts’ and ‘feelings’. Earlier, sarcastic posters of Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan and another poster featuring Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav equating North Indians with mosquitoes were put up at various parts of Mumbai.
