Mar 1, 2009: Sharad Pawar headed Nationalist Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) held a pre-poll convention in Nashik on Sunday, where the party again demanded 50 percent seats (24 seats) for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.
NCP said they would not settle for anything less than this as their hold in Maharashtra was more than Congress.
The party gathering comes ahead of the important Congress-NCP meet to be held soon in Mumbai to discuss seat sharing.
Urging Congress to have alliance with all parties of UPA, the NCP also asserted they would continue the alliance with the party on national level.
The meet was attended by hundreds of party workers from the state with senior leaders like R R Patil, Tariq Anwar and Praful Patel.
Former Congress leader Govinrao Adik joined NCP in the Nashik convention.
Congress and its allies formed the UPA government after the General Elections in 2004. Senior Congress leader Manmohan Singh was then appointed the Prime Minister after Congress chief Sonia Gandhi refused to accept the post.
