Feb 14, 2009: While the self-styled moral police continue to oppose Valentines Day, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has come in support of couples celebrating the event.
The Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar-led party (NCP) even distributed V-Day cards to love birds in Thane.
Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has not taken any side on the issue saying the celebrations were part of the couples' personal lives.
Interestingly, during his stint with Shiv Sena, the MNS chief had taken anti-Valentines Day stance.
On the other hand, Shiv Sena remained stuck too its old stand of protesting V-Day, which the party said was anti-Indian culture.
After Shiv Sena in Maharashtra, now it is the turn of Sri Ram Sene, to target the Valentine Day celebrations in Karnataka.
Sri Ram Sene, led by Pramod Muthalik, was recently in news for attacking a pub in Mangalore on January 25.
Sri Ram Sene activists had beaten up all those present in the pub, including girls.
After a lot of hue and cry, Muthalik and 33 Ram Sene activists were arrested for the pub attack.
