May 15, 2009: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is among one of the most sought after leaders ahead of Lok Sabha election results
Congress, BJP and CPI-M had all made overtures to Nitish Kumar after exit poll surveys indicated that his party JD (U) will put up an impressive performance in Bihar.
On Friday, Nitish said he would support a government that promises special status to Bihar.
Nitish Kumar's statement is likely to worry the NDA, which is scrambling to get the requisite number of 272 to form the next government.
The special status means that 90 percent of the money that the Centre gives to a state would be treated as grant and only 10 percent as loan as against 30 percent grant and 70 percent loan as in normal cases.
Lok Sabha Elections 2009 would be held in five phases on April 16, April 23, April 30, May 7 and May 13.
The poll results will be declared on May 16.
