Feb 11, 2009: In a major embarrassment to Pramod Muthalik led Sri Ram Sene, the self proclaimed custodians of Indian culture, a group called ‘the consortium of pub going, loose and forward women' launched ‘Pink Chaddi Campaign' to protest the organization's warning against celebrating Valentine Day.
The campaign that was launched on February 5, aims at collecting pink chaddis (panties) from all over the country and courier it to the organization's Bangalore office on Valentine Day.
The women say this is the revenge against unruly people with narrow minded mentality.
The campaign earlier began on the internet, but now it was out on the streets with various collection centers to facilitate its supporters.
The group has also appealed all women to go to pub on V-day and click photographs there so that those could be couriered to the Sene office.
On the internet part of campaign, Nisha Susan, a journalist started a blog for the people to express their views.
Then she thought of taking it further and posted her idea on the blog to which people responded in great numbers from all over the world.
The Ram Sene was in news for attacking a pub in Mangalore on January 25 and for beating up all those present including girls saying the pub culture was corrupting youngsters.
After Shiv Sena in Maharashtra, now it is the turn of Sri Ram Sene, to target the Valentine Day celebrations in Karnataka.
Sri Ram Sene, led by Pramod Muthalik, was recently in news for attacking a pub in Mangalore on January 25.
Sri Ram Sene activists had beaten up all those present in the pub, including girls.
After a lot of hue and cry, Muthalik and 33 Ram Sene activists were arrested for the pub attack.
