Ricky Ponting Quits T20 Cricket

Sep 7, 2009: Ricky Ponting, who led Australia to two World Cup wins in the 50 over game, on Monday, announced decision to quit the T20 format.

 

Ponting will however continue to play the 50 overs ODI and Test matches.

 

Michael Clarke will now lead the Australian side in the T20 games.



 

Background

Born on December 19, 1974, Ricky Ponting also known as Punter is a specialist right handed batsman.

He made his ODI debut in 1995 against South Africa.

Ponting was appointed ODI captain in 2002 and Test captain in 2004.
