September 12 (2000 hrs) After the success of Indian pugilists, Vijender Kumar, Akhil Kumar and Jitender Kumar at the Beijing Olympics, the Indian Boxing Federation (IBF) is leaving no stone unturned to sustain and strengthen the newly found interest in the game.
The federation has added glamour to the sport of courage and has roped in Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt as brand ambassador of the sport.
The actor was the guest of honour at the closing ceremony of the senior national boxing championship at Bhatinda, when the IBF officially appointed him as the brand ambassador of boxing.
IBF president Abhay Singh Chautala said, most of the boxers are impressed with the actor and moreover Sanjay Dutt himself looks like a heavyweight boxer, so he is the most suitable candidate to suit the sport.
Sources said, the actor has agreed to be brand ambassador only because he loved the sport and has not charged any fees for the same.
