ICC Twenty20 World Cup Warm up Match:

India outclassed Pakistan in all the departments to register an emphatic nine wicket win over arch rivals in their second warm up match ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup at Oval.

Rohit Sharma was the star of Indian innings with a score of 80 runs. Other opener Gautam Gambhir too slammed a half century.

In other warm up matches England defeated West Indies by nine wickets and South Africa won by six wickets against Sri Lanka.

 

 

ICC T20 Womens World Cup:

Indian team led by Jhulan Goswami left for England to participate in the ICC T20 Womens World Cup cricket.

India is placed in Group B along with England, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

India plays their first match on June 11 against England.

Captain Goswami was confident of a good show by her team mates in the World Cup.

 

Santosh Trophy:

Services upset star studded Maharashtra by a solitary goal in the Santosh Trophy encounter.

 

Hockey India is Formed:

Both the hockey federations the IHF and IWHF were dismantled and Hockey India was formed. This was announced by Indian Olympic Association president Suresh Kalmadi.

 

French Open 2009:

S Kuznetsova beat Serena Williams 7-6, 5-7, 7-5 in the French Open match.
