Feb 5, 2009: Sri Ram Sene, recently in news for Mangalore pub attack, on Thursday warned against valentine day celebrations in Karnataka.
Sri Ram Sene chief Pramod Muthalik has warned of dire consequences to shop owners selling valentine day greeting cards and to hotels organizing V-day celebrations.
Leaders of the organization plan to meet the Governor and Home Minister of the state and submit a memorandum requesting them to curb V-day celebrations as it was against Hindu culture.
On January 25, Sri Ram Sene activists had attacked a pub in Mangalore and beat girls alleging the pub culture was corrupting the youngsters.
Muthalik later said they were trying to protect the Indian culture.
Muthalik and his activists were arrested for the attack on the Mangalore pub.
In Maharashtra, Shiv Sena and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) too have issued warnings against valentine day celebrations.
After Shiv Sena in Maharashtra, now it is the turn of Sri Ram Sene, to target the Valentine Day celebrations in Karnataka.
Sri Ram Sene, led by Pramod Muthalik, was recently in news for attacking a pub in Mangalore on January 25.
Sri Ram Sene activists had beaten up all those present in the pub, including girls.
After a lot of hue and cry, Muthalik and 33 Ram Sene activists were arrested for the pub attack.
