Taliban Inching Fast towards Indian Borders

Mar 31, 2009: Taliban militants, who are suspected to be behind Monday's Manawan police training school attack in Lahore, are moving fast towards Indian borders.

The targeted training school is located on Grand Trunk road on outskirts of Lahore, just 12 kms from Wagah border.

The terrorists reaching areas near country's border have raised worries for India.

In the police academy attack, around 27 people lost their life and over 100 were injured. Security forces however managed to kill two and nab one terrorist.

Attackers struck around 0630 hrs on Monday when the police trainees were getting ready for the morning parade.

This was second attack in Lahore within a month. On March 3, the Sri Lankan cricket team was attacked while they were on their way to play a test match.

Earlier, Taliban acquired control of administration in Swat valley region. They also targeted the North West Frontier Province.



 

Background

Several terror attacks have taken place in important cities of Pakistan before. The latest was attack on Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore.
