Two Terrorists Blow Themselves to Evade Arrest during Manawan Attack

Mar 30, 2009: Two terrorists, who were part of the contingent that attacked Manawan police training facility on outskirts of Lahore, blew themselves up to evade arrest.

Around 26 people were killed and over 150 injured in the attack.

The security forces also nabbed two attackers and whisked them to unknown location for interrogation.

The attackers are believed to be from Afghanistan as they spoke Pashtuni language.

Earlier, the forces gunned down two other terrorists.

Meanwhile, some terrorists have taken shelter in a mosque within the premises and were carrying out attacks from there.

Terrorists struck around 0630 hrs when the police trainees were busy with their morning parade.

A fierce gunbattle is still on between forces and the armed attackers.



 

Background

Several terror attacks have taken place in important cities of Pakistan before. The latest was attack on Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore.

Lankan team was attacked while they were on their way to play test match in Gadaffi stadium.
