May 7 (2230 hrs): Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra R R Patil, who is under flak for not taking action on MNS chief Raj Thackeray, convened a meeting with top police officials on
Wednesday. It was called to take steps to bring under control the volatile scenario caused by Raj Thackeray, during his speech on May 3. It was attended by Mumbai Police Commissioner Hassan Gafoor, DCP A N Roy amongst others.
This meeting was held after his own colleagues including Narayan Rane and Ajit Pawar trained their guns on him for not acting swiftly against Thackeray after the latter’s rantings against north Indians. They also asked as to why no action was initiated against Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi.
During the meeting, R R Patil denied having given Thackeray clean chit. He added that the intelligence was analyzing reports which after being analysed would be sent to Law and
Judiciary Department. Â
