Jan 28, 2009: Swetha Reddy, 21, pursuing B. Com final year at Pragathi Degree College in Dilsukhnagar was murdered by unidentified assailants when she was alone at her house in Saroornagar in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

Hemavanth Reddy, an engineering student in Singarayakonda in Ongole district, attacked his college mate Sravanthi on Tuesday with a blade as the latter rejected his love proposal.
Hemavanth was caught by his fellow students who handed him over to the police.

In a similar incident, Bindu Bharati of a private junior college was attacked at her residence in Anantapur by jilted lover Hari and his accomplice on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, student unions across Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday protested against the Singarayakonda and Anantapur incidents.
