Jan 15, 2009: Citizens in Andhra Pradesh celebrated the festival of Makara Sankranti in a traditional way.
Cockfights were held in both East and West Godavari districts on the occasion of Sankranti.

Special rituals were performed at the Ayyapa temple in Sabarimala on the banks of river Pampa in Kerala, where lakhs of devotes congregated to witness the Makarajyoti on Wednesday.

Pradesh Congress chief (PCC) D Srinivas of AP is in Delhi to discuss the Telangana issue with national leaders ahead of forthcoming Assembly elections.

Special pujas were performed for the master blaster, who was gifted a shawl by the temple authorities.
