Sudhaben, lovingly called Baa, is the fulcrum around which revolves the lives of her entire family, consisting of her husband Deepchand, sons Mahesh and Niraj and their wives Vina and Neha. The strong bond between mother and sons is, however, resented by Vina and Neha. Repeated efforts by Vina and Neha to wean their husbands away from Baa's shadow having failed, resentment simmers in the hearts of the two daughters-in-law.
Baa's only daughter, Lata who married outside caste, against the wishes of her parents, is pregnant and wants to come home for delivery. Baa has given the permission, but her father has not.
Sulking daughters-in-law is not the only challenge that Baa faces, but her long cherished principles and societal commitments too are under threat. The old age home that Baa had built in her youth, is under threat of demolition. Mahesh wants to demolish it and build a lavish bungalow in its place. Afraid of Baa's opposition, Mahesh searches for ways to announce his decision to his mother.
