Produced by Suhas Dongre and aired on Zee Marathi from Monday to Saturday at 8 pm, Kulvadhu is the story of a young girl Devyani Deshmukh. After her father Jai goes missing, she is raised by her uncle Makrand. Devyani has a younger sister Sakshi who aspires to become a police inspector.
Devyani (Purva Gokhale) follows her grandfather Damodar's (Sadashiv Amrapurkar) footsteps and becomes a teacher at the local school. Makrand's wife Abhilasha cannot digest her success and does not miss a moment to humiliate her. She often compares her with her daughter Shravani who is an aspiring model.

The story also delves into the lives of RajeShirkes, a rich business family from the same town. Rajmata Anasuya Shirke (Ashalata) presides over the family matters. Her elder son Ranvir RajeShirke (Milind Gunaji) is the power center of the house and owner of a large business empire. He is a dominating and aggressive man and often humiliates his wife (Nishigandha Wad) over minor issues.
Compared to the stern Ranvir Raje, his younger brother Vikramaditya (Subodh Bhave) is arrogant yet generous. While Ranvir handles politics and administration, Vikramaditya takes over the family business.
