Show Story

The Deshmukh family lives together in ‘Ashray' an old house in Mumbai. The patriarch of the family Anna (Sudhir Joshi) is an ex-freedom fighter and likes to write letters to the editor demanding a ban on nuclear weapons. His wife Mai (Rekha Kamat) is a loving woman and is like a mother to her daughters-in-law. Their eldest son Prabhakar (Sanjay Mone) and his wife (Suhas Joshi) have three children - Prashant (Sunil Barve), Anand (Bharat Jadhav) and Alka. Their younger son Bal (Bal Karve) and his wife Shalini (Amita Khopkar) have two daughters -Latika and Kalika.

 

The family is close knit and bound together by values. However, minor differences do occur. One point of discussion in the house is whether they should sell the old house and make way for a tower where they can all be accommodated in separate flats.
